Equipped with BOSS’ latest real-time processing technology, the OC-5 is the most expressive octave pedal ever, offering outstanding sound and playability. Also capable of polyphonic playing over a wider range than previous models, the OC-5 is a high-performance pedal that covers all the needs of an octave pedal.
VINTAGE mode for classic tones
In 1982, the OC-2 debuted as the world’s first modern octave pedal. The OC-5’s VINTAGE mode uses the latest tracking technology to deliver the iconic monophonic sound of the OC-2 with a more natural response. The two LEVEL knobs allow you to adjust the volume of the -1 and -2 octave sounds, respectively, and the DIRECT LEVEL knob allows you to balance the direct and effect sounds, giving you total control over your sound.
Enhanced POLY Mode
Another feature of the OC-5 is the smart POLY mode, a further evolution of the polyphonic octave first introduced on the OC-3 Super Octave that is fully compatible with chord playing. The RANGE knob allows the user to specify the bandwidth of the effect, so that a -1 octave sound can be created for melody lines or chords as desired. You can also set the RANGE knob to LOWEST to get an octave sound only on the lowest note of the chord.
New +1 octave sound
The OC-5 can produce a +1 octave sound in both VINTAGE and POLY modes, simulating the sparkling sound of a 12-string guitar, adding thickness to chords in combination with a -1 octave sound, or even adding a +1 octave to solo playing to increase its presence. The +1 octave adds a fat unison sound that adds presence to solo performances.
GUITAR/BASS switch and DIRECT OUT jack
By switching the GUITAR/BASS switch on the pedal itself, the tracking engine is optimized for each guitar and bass for the best performance. The DIRECT OUT jack makes it easy to output direct and effect sounds separately to a mixer, audio interface, or two stage amplifiers.
